Following the announcement by the Prime Minister on July 5 that we will move to Step 4 on the 19th and social distancing rules will be dropped, Billericay Mayflower Rotary are delighted to announce that their big, free, summer event, Summerfest, is going ahead on Sunday, August 8 at Sun Corner Field, Billericay. After so many months of restrictions, here is Billericay’s chance to come out and enjoy an afternoon of fun and entertainment.
Amongst the attractions are the music stage with local musicians, a kids’ fun fair and other rides, a car show, donkey rides, owl display, traction engines, Punch and Judy, many stalls supporting charities and local crafts, food stalls and a bar.
Event Manager, Mark Chambers, said “We are hoping for a really good turnout this year to sweep away the lockdown blues. We have been well supported over the years by the people of Billericay so we see this as a chance to give something back. We also hope to collect much needed funds for our Charity donations to support causes at home and abroad, especially helping local kids at this time. All we need now is some good weather.
We had an excellent array of stalls - food, craft, activities and others
A main feature of Summerfest is the excellent MG Car show
Several stage acts and arena displays kept the crowd entertained
Being part of Rotary is more than just giving back to the community by volunteering. It is also about bringing your skills, experience and enthusiasm to help it thrive, whilst making some great friends along the way.
Summerfest is on Queen Elizabeth II Field (previously Sun Corner) in Billericay - set the postcode on your SatNav to CM12 9JZ. Free car parking is available on site.
We meet on a Thursday evening at the Burstead Golf Club for dinner at 8pm. As well as SummerFest, we are also responsible for Billericay Christmas Market and other events around the town.
